I have created some WMA files, which play quite happily under Windows Media Player. When trying to load them into Combiwave, I get the following error message:

Error Code 5

Can you help?

Forums:

I guess you are running Windows XP?

The problem has been reported once, but unfortunately the cause is unknown. Do you have SP2 and all updates installed?

I'm sorry that there's no better news for now.

Chris

Sorry Chris, I should have given you the Op System.

It's an old machine and runs Windows 98 (Not even SE)

If this is any help, I can load the files into Audacity (1.2.6), but they appear highly compressed and take about 2 seconds to play, even though they are actually 3-4 minutes long.

I have a couple of other editors/players, so I'll try them out there too.

We also use an old copy of WebJockey as a jingle player, and that does not like them either, but I'm not sure if it can handle WMA files.

I kind of suspect it is something to do with the way they have been created, I used WMP Series 9 running under Windows XP (I think it's the corporate version).

I have not tried slowing them down in Audacity yet. If that works I'll let you know.

Any way, i guess I'll just have to re-create them as MP3's as there is not enough disk space for them as WAV files on our meagre 8Gb disk (oh how things have changed, my USB memory stick is that big these days - That gives me another idea, keep the WAV's on the memory stick!)

Hi,

IIRC my wma woes resolved when I upgraded to WMP10 but I guess this may not be an option on your Win 98 machine.

I take it you're using the latest version of Combiwave?
