CombiWave 4.2.0.17 alpha

A new alpha is available for curious testers.

Development Status

Its might look to be a bit silent again but behind the scenes the new fading functions are maturing. A new major release is coming closer. Those who can't wait might want to take a look at the current preview release.

CombiWave PRO Trial

The trial version of CombiWave PRO is back again. It can be found on the download page.

v4.2 Development Status

While a new alpha with improved fading support is out another one is already in the making. Fade In/Out default settings and scheme support are around the corner now.

Gold for CombiWave on OSX and Linux

While there's no native Version of CombiWave for OSX in sight the software can be run using CodeWeavers CrossOver Office or WINE.

CombiWave 4.0 received the "Gold Medal" in CodeWeavers' compatiblilty database:
"The Gold is awarded to applications that install and run as you would expect them to in Microsoft Windows."

However, please note that running CombiWave using WINE/CrossOver is not supported officially.

Virus (Win32/Induc) in CombiWave 4.0.1.3

Unfortunately CombiWave 4.0.1.3 has been infected by the non-destructive malware Win32/Induc. The latter was not known to virus researchers when version 4.0.1.3 was released.

How to fix the problem?

  • Normal users can fix the problem by updating to the latest version of CombiWave.
  • Delphi developers should read the description of Win32/Induc and restore SysConst.dcu by overwriting it with SysConst.bak

Symptoms

  • CombiWave.exe might disappear (virus scanners remove it)
  • Installation of CombiWave 4.0.1.3 might fail

Luckily the malware does nothing if the Delphi software is not installed. It only modifies installations of the Delphi development environment to spread itself.
